Why You Should Treat Your Business Like a 5-Star Hotel
Feb 09 | 2017
There’s a very specific decorum that one can envision when it comes to a company. There’s a rhythm, aura, and sound to office life that is a music of its own. And whether clients are visiting the office or it’s casual Friday, it’s important to maintain a sense of hospitality at all times. That will keep them coming back. Here is our hospitality checklist for any company, big or small.
Smiling faces
Even though there are definitely going to be some stressful times at work, the simple act of smiling can trick you into feeling happier. No client wants to enter a workplace and see employees mad, sad, or yawning with boredom. Plus, smiling is contagious. You look more approachable when you’re smiling, and clients will feel more willing to voice their concerns, and perhaps, even compliments!
Soothing voices
We know there are some people in the office that can get quite animated. Being passionate is of course, a good thing, but when you’re screaming at full volume, that can send quite the wrong message. What makes most doctors able to calm patients down is their ability to maintain a soothing tone of voice. And a calm environment will signify to your clients that you have everything under control (even if you don’t!).
Freebies
One of the things we love about going into any office, is getting presented with an offer of water, coffee, or even a healthy snack. Food and drink always puts people in a good mood, especially when it’s free. The best hotels we’ve stayed in have treats in the lobby, treats in the room, and served at all hours. You don’t need anything extravagant, but any little goodie back will always make a good impression.
Neat atmosphere
We can’t stress this one enough. Much like a guest you’d invite over to your home, you really want to make sure you clean up before anyone sees your huge mess. You need to treat your office with respect, and that means having your employees dress neatly, organizing excess paperwork and wires, and disposing of all unnecessary junk.
You don’t have to be in the hospitality business to make your business more hospitable. Always have a place for your client to sit. Invest in a fish tank. Every little detail counts.
